I have a small but irritating problem !, in the shape of a set of folding chairs we use for garden alfresco meals and as extra seats when we have one of our rather large dinner gatherings. The problem is that although they are folding, they take up so much room when folded, they are not all the same design as we have added to the collection as and when needed, some fold almost flat, some fold with the seat sticking out, some only partially fold and when you try to hang them up, open up !. I have even tied one up with string to prevent this, but I will not get rid of them, they are useful, but one or two are in need of replacement after being left out in the garden just a little to long.
So this morning I decided to look about the net for folding chairs, my Criteria is the new chair must be absolutely flat, with the ability to be hung without it trying to unfold, and be so simple to use, my one year old grand daughter could use it.
So with this in mind I did a search and found pictures for several that fitted the bill, so after due care and a lot of thought, I will be giving my thumbs up award and a possible order to the photo above, made by foldupchairs it’s flat , and as far as I can tell, will hang without unfolding, excellent. Made I think with plywood with just minimal metal in the form of four hinges.
I know this is not true CPD, but the problem set me thinking about what I considered to be the criteria for the perfect folding chair design, the problems I had found in my original set, and my space needs, how can two people live in a five bedroom house and not have enough space !!, so in my book it’s CPD, just.
Again I have used Blogsy to write this post, the more I use it, the more I think I will change the layout of my standard wordpress template to match this style.
